The element (1) has a flow rate control unit (5) provided with a support portion (6) that extends over an internal cross section of a fluid conduit section. A flow rate controller (8) comprises a throttle body (9) made of elastic material, where the throttle body limits a control gap (10) between the throttle body and a circumferential wall. The throttle body is compressed in flow direction under pressure of flowing fluid such that the compression causes a peripheral expansion of the throttle body and narrows the control gap that controls flow rate of the flow rate controller. The throttle body is formed in conical shape, truncated cone shape or spherical shape. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a flow element.
