The printed product (300) is conveyed along a conveying path by the stationary conveyors (100,200) of a transport component. The frictional clamping action is exerted on printed product by clamping components (101a,201a) of each conveyor. A drive tensioning component is provided for adjusting the controlled lift profile and force-fit profile of printed product for an arbitrary format characteristic. The printed product is detected by the tensioning component based on the product of predetermined law of motion, boundary conditions, and uniform, non-uniform or adaptive velocity profile. An independent claim is included for conveying device.
