The holder (10) has an L-angle bracket forming an edge (9A) of a filter element (1) and comprising a leg and another leg (6B). A support surface (11) is provided for the filter element, and a front surface (13) lies opposite to an insertion opening (14). A covering surface (12) lies opposite to the support surface. A ramp region (15) of the support surface is formed in such a manner that one of the legs of the L-angle bracket is pushed away during insertion of the filter element from the ramp region of the support surface. The ramp is formed as a wedge (16) on the support surface. An independent claim is also included for a filter device for a motor vehicle, comprising a filter holder.
