The key deposit box has housing provided with several key receptacle (7) for storage of corresponding keys which are secured in locking position by locking device (9). An authentication device performs successful determination of the authenticity of a user during the removal of a key selected with selection device. An operating element is actuated by user to release the locking device of corresponding key receptacle such that the selected key is removable from the key receptacle.
