The automation device (101) is operated in an operating state, and the automation device is switched to power saving mode, when a turn-off signal is received by a communication module (100). A first signal specifying the status of automation device is received by the communication module, while the automation device is in sleep mode. A second signal specifying the status of automation device is sent by the communications module to the transmitter of first signal, while the device is in power saving mode. An independent claim is included for computer program product for operating industrial automation device in industrial automation network.
