The electrical heating element (1) has a heating conductor (2) for heating of water, and a carrier element (4) for receiving the heating conductor. The carrier element is deformed reversibly at a temperature change, and the deformation is transferred to the heating conductor. The preferred deformation direction of the heat conductor corresponds to the preferred deformation direction of the carrier element.
