The mattress (1) has a body (2) degradable in a supporting effect in one of shoulder regions (3) of a person lying on the mattress in lateral sections (3') of the shoulder regions by reduction of a foam material contained in the body. Openings (5) project from longitudinal narrow sides (4) of the mattress. The openings reach a depth so that strong middle strips (6) free from the openings are formed in a longitudinal center of the mattress. The body is produced in a foam or latex foam molding process. The mattress is made of foam with sectionally different supporting effects.
