The cooling system (80) comprises a primary cooling unit (300) for adjusting the primary temperature in a sample chamber (304), which has a sample container with the sample, and a secondary cooling unit (302), which is thermally coupled with the primary cooling unit for operating between the primary temperature and the secondary temperature. The secondary temperature is lower than the primary temperature, such that the secondary cooling unit is configured for adjusting humidity in the sample chamber by adjusting the secondary temperature. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a sample injector comprises an injection needle; (2) a sample separation device for separating components of a sample in a mobile phase; and (3) a method for cooling a sample of a sample container in a sample injector.
