The method involves determining operating regions in which a wind energy plant is observed as a quasi linear system. Transfer functions are determined for each region. A selection and combination function, which selects one of the transfer functions corresponding to an actual operating condition of the plant for each input variable, is set. An actual value for an output variable of the plant is formed from outputs of the selected transfer function. A software-simulation model is formed from the transfer functions and the selection and combination function. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a software-simulation module (2) a computer program comprising instructions for performing a method for creating a software-simulation module (3) a data storage medium comprising instructions for performing a method for creating a software-simulation module (4) a data stream comprising instructions for performing a method for creating a software-simulation module.
