Heatable cylinder for e.g. heating cardboard, has steam supply system whose inlet opening is aligned opposite to cavities such that steam in region of outer cylinder jacket flows into cavities in axial direction of inner cylinder jacket
The cylinder (1) has a radial inner cylinder jacket (4) coaxially arranged with respect to a radial outer cylinder jacket (3) and indirectly coupled with the outer cylinder jacket by forming rotatable annular or ring-like cavities (2). The cavities are subjected to steam (D). A steam supply system (5) is coupled with one of the cavities. An inlet opening (6) of the steam supply system is arranged and aligned opposite to the cavities such that the steam in a region of the outer cylinder jacket flows into the cavities in an axial direction of the inner cylinder jacket. An independent claim is also included for a method for applying rotatable annular or ring-like cavities with steam.
