The traction mechanism (1) has a primary drive (2), which is arranged between a crankshaft pulley (6) and a compensating disk (7), where the crankshaft pulley is connected with a crankshaft that is rotatable about a rotation axis (14). A secondary drive (3) is arranged between the crankshaft pulley and one or multiple secondary disks that are connected by a secondary traction unit (8). The secondary traction unit lies on the outer surface of the primary traction unit (4) in a force-fit and form-fit manner.
