Flexible cord for use as torque and/or power transferring shaft for transferring torque around bends or to movable component in machine building industry, has wires partially including plastic material e.g. thermoplastic
The cord (10) has two layers of wires (14, 16) and a monofilament (20) cross strappingly arranged around a core wire (12) i.e. core filament. The wires partially include a plastic material e.g. thermoplastic. The wires in the adjacent layers include different lay directions. A lay length of the wires around the core wire lies between 0.8 and 2.9 cord diameter. The plastic wires provided in an outermost layer and/or the wires with a plastic coating extend wider than the wires including a metal material at a surface in a cross-section in a radial direction. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a stranding device (2) a method for manufacturing a cord.
