The method involves determining one of two probability distributions for values of a traffic condition parameter, and correcting the probability distribution with speed criteria (v1-v4) and quality criteria (M1-M4) of information sources (IQ1-IQ4). A third probability distribution for values of a parameter from the two probability distributions such that driving time on a route segment is derived. A cumulated probability distribution is determined from the third probability distribution. The speed criteria are determined from preset probability values of the cumulated probability distribution. An independent claim is also included for a device for computer-based prediction of driving duration of a vehicle on a route from route segments.
