Method for detecting object i.e. salamander, in section of pipeline that is utilized for transporting e.g. mineral oil, involves determining information about presence of object in reflection area from changes in physical parameters
The method involves introducing an elastic wave signal (30) i.e. sound signal, into an outer side (12) of a pipeline wall, such that the wave signal is propagated into a solid material (11), and detecting reflection of the wave signal in the material by using a sensor (14). The wave signal is generated by a signal generator (13). Physical parameters of the wave signal reflected in the material are determined by an evaluation unit, and information about the presence of an object (20) in a reflection area (40) in a pipeline is determined from the changes in the physical parameters. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting an object.
