Method for engraving structure e.g. printing pattern for banknote in surface of cylinder, involves rotating cylinder with respect to engraving unit, and controlling engraving unit when engraving structure on surface of cylinder
The method involves moving an engraving tool (28) of engraving machine (2) in advance direction parallel to longitudinal central axis of cylinder (8). The cylinder is rotated with respect to the engraving unit (26) about longitudinal central axis. The engraving unit and engraving tool are controlled when engraving the structure on surface of cylinder using vector data. An independent claim is included for engraving machine.
