The method involves separating two portions of electromagnetic radiation, which comprise respective time-dependent phases and portion frequency. Two phase progresses are determined with specific delay. Fluctuation of repetition frequency is computed based on difference of the phase progresses. The phase progresses are determined from an interference of respective portion of electromagnetic radiation with a delayed copy of equaled portion of the electromagnetic radiation, where each portion of electromagnetic radiation comprises different ridge line frequency (fk). An independent claim is also included for a device for determining parameter fluctuations of an electromagnetic radiation with a ridge-shaped frequency spectrum, comprising a separation unit.
