The chain link (1) has a half-space (5), which is arranged at an end (4) in a conveyor chain. An opening (8) of the half-space is formed larger than the maximum thickness of a projection (7), where the projection is inserted in the half-space in a conveying direction (3). The half-space has a sealing lip (12), which is made of plastic, particularly polytetrafluoroethylene or polyethylene. An independent claim is also included for a chain assembly with a chain.
