Fuel pump i.e. external gear pump, for pumping fuel from fuel tank to fuel injection system, has bypass valve arranged parallel to compression mechanism, and bypass valve acting as pressure relief valve in pump
The pump (1) has a bypass valve (7) arranged parallel to a compression mechanism. The bypass valve acts as a pressure relief valve in the pump. The bypass valve is designed as a non return valve in a hole (11) that is arranged in a housing (12). The hole connects a pressure side (8) with a suction side (3) of the pump. The hole is outwardly sealed by a plug (21). The bypass valve rests against a valve seat (19) by a spring (20) such as a cylindrical pressure spring or a cup spring. Another spring rests against a closing member of the bypass valve.
