The device has a brewing vessel (5) for collecting water for brewing tea, and a tea receptive element (7) e.g. tea plier, for receiving predefinable tea amount. A displacement device (9) displaces the tea receptive element into the vessel. A temperature detection unit (15) detects temperature of the vessel and comprises a temperature sensor (17). A temperature comparison unit compares actual temperature sensed by the temperature detection unit with a temperature set point and delivers temperature signal to the displacement device and/or to a time controller (11) e.g. countdown timer. An independent claim is also included for a method for brewing tea.
