The thermometer has a temperature sensor (2), a light source (71) i.e. LED, and a light sensor (72) inserted into a pulse sensor surface (7), and evaluated by an evaluation electronics (4) to display heart rate on a display (3). The light source and the light sensor are arranged adjacent to each other. A finger tip is inserted into the sensor surface, which is designed as an inner surface of a hollow cylinder or a hollow truncated cone (11) or a hollow truncated recess in a surface of a housing (1). The recess is designed either as a blind hole or as a channel running through the housing. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring body temperature and heart rate using a pulse thermometer.
