The device (1) has an air duct (2) e.g. metal duct, and an air flap (3) comprising a flap blade (5), where the air flap is pivotably supported and arranged at the air duct. The air flap cooperates with a sealing seat (37) in closing position. The air duct comprises pivoting recesses (26, 27), and a region of the flap blade is pivoted in the pivoting recesses during closure of the air flap. A section of the pivoting recesses forms a portion of the sealing seat. The pivoting recesses are formed with duct walls (24, 25) of the metal duct. The air duct is formed as a rectangular duct (10).
