The method involves supplying waste heat produced at a first location (1) using a heat carrier medium in a circuit (101) through operation of a wind energy plant. The waste heat is withdrawn at a second location (2). The withdrawn waste heat at the second location is used as useful heat. The second location lying outside of the wind energy plant is used to process the heat withdrawn from the heat carrier medium. The heat is delivered at a third location (3) lying within the wind energy plant from the heat carrier medium. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for transferring heat between a location lying inside a wind energy plant and a location lying outside of the wind energy plant, comprising two heat exchangers (2) a wind energy plant comprising a tower.
