The test device for monitoring the current in an exposed to radiation, that is to be tested, electrical component, is provided with a sensor (20) for measuring the current flowing current and an evaluation unit (14) for receiving the measurement signal of the sensor (20). The evaluation unit (14) assesses the occurring during an exposure to radiation for the course of the measurement signal of the sensor (20) based on the size of the measurement signal at the beginning of a radiation load and a switch-off signal generated when the magnitude of the current measured signal the magnitude of the measurement signal at the beginning of the radiation exposure by more than a first predetermined threshold value or when the rise of the measurement signal of the sensor exceeds a certain slope.
