In vitro method for evaluating the quality of cartilage mass, comprises (a) dissolving a sample of cartilage mass to obtain isolated cartilage cells; (b) separating isolated cartilage cells obtained in the step (a) and proliferating during a specified period, such that the proliferation of individual cells is recognized through the formation of cell populations; and (c) determining the proliferation ability of cells based on the size of the cell populations. An independent claim is also included for producing a cartilage transplants, comprising (i) dissolving a sample of cartilage mass to obtain isolated cartilage cells in vitro, (ii) separating isolated cartilage cells obtained in the step (i) and proliferating during a specified period, such that the proliferation of individual cells is recognized through the formation of cell populations, (iii) providing the cells with the best proliferation ability and applying to a three-dimensional resorbable frame, and (iv) culturing the cells on the resorbable frame until the transplant has the desired size and cell density.
