PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing steel billets containing Ni with an excellent surface quality is provided to secure the quality of the surfaces of the billets by preventing surface defects.;CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing steel billets containing Ni with an excellent surface quality is as follows. A slab is made of C 0.3~0.5wt.%, Si 1.0~3.0wt.%, Mn 0.3~1.5wt.%, Ni 1.0~3.0wt.%, Cr 0.5~1.4wt.%, Mo 0.2~0.7wt.%, V 0.05~0.15wt.%, residual Fe, and inevitable impurities. The slab is heated on the heating furnace at the conditions; more than 400°C charging temperature, 990~1010°C preheating zone, 1190~1210°C heating zone, 1235~1265°C soaking zone, and 250~330 minutes residence time. The slab is hot-rolled at the rolling reduction of 5.5~6.6% per one time, and the billets are manufactured. The 0.5~2mm surface of the rolled billet is removed.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
