PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for generating water and energy based on seawater are provided to reduce energy consumption for desalinating seawater and collecting a draw solution and to efficiently generate fresh water.;CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and a method for generating water and energy based on seawater includes a forward osmosis part(1), a pressure retarded osmosis part(2), and a membrane distillation part(3). The forward osmosis part implements a forward osmosis process with respect to seawater and a draw solution introduced into a forward osmosis module(10). The pressure retarded osmosis part generates power based on seawater and a draw solution introduced into a pressure retarded osmosis module(20). A concentrated seawater discharging pipe(13) is connected between the forward osmosis module and the pressure retarded osmosis module. Concentrated seawater generated from the forward osmosis process is introduced into the pressure retarded osmosis module as the draw solution of the pressure retarded osmosis process. The membrane distillation part includes a membrane distillation module(30), a concentrated water discharging pipe(31), and a generated water discharging pipe(32).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
