PURPOSE: A relay station-based uplink communicating apparatus in a wireless communication system and a method for the same are provided to increase the data transmission efficiency of the system by minimizing the interference of a base station.;CONSTITUTION: The transmit/receive transition gap and the receive/transmit transition gap of a relay station is transmitted from the relay station to a base station while the relay station accesses network(702). The transmit/receive transition gap and the receive/transmit transition gap are physical times for converting transmitting and receiving modes of the stations. A time interval between an uplink relay zone and an access zone in the relay station or an idle time between frames used in the relay station is determined(704, 706).
