PURPOSE: A channel equalization method and apparatus based on a multi-level correlation LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm for a single frequency network repeater in a digital TV broadcasting system environment are provided to improve signal receiving property by reducing error signal due to a feedback signal. CONSTITUTION: A correlation value between an input signal and an error signal is calculated. A normalized value between 0 and 1 is produced by dividing the correlation value into a predetermined maximum correlation value. It is determined where the normalized value is included. Each tap coefficient about a feed forward LMS filter and a feedback LMS filter are updated by the step size.
