The invention relates to a device that effectively and constantly protects people from blood-sucking arthropods and thus prevents the spread of the epidemic diseases malaria, yellow fever, and dengue fever. A microchip 1 that substantially contains a microprocessor and a transmitter is integrated in a bracelet 17 that simulates and emits environmental conditions which trigger a flee response in blood-sucking arthropods 37, for example lighting in a thunderstorm. Blood-sucking arthropods have a plurality of sensilla 24 on the piercing apparatus 29.1, on the sensors 29 (antenna), and on the leg segments 29.2, said sensilla registering stimuli from the environment, thus allowing said arthropods to detect suitable blood hosts and suck blood, as well as sense predators and sources of danger originating from the environment of the arthropods. If the blood-sucking female arthropods 37 receive the signals 22 by means of the sensilla 24, said signals being produced from the simulation and originating from the microchip in the bracelet 17, the arthropods distance themselves from the area of effect 23 of the microchip 1 and cannot penetrate the person 38 wearing the bracelet 17 in order to suck blood and thereby transmit pathogens and parasites.
