Disclosed are a method for controlling water quality in a u-city and a u-city system having a water quality control function. The method for controlling the water quality in the u-city system comprises: a sensor signal receiving step, in which individual sensor signals are received from the sensors; a control signal generation step, wherein control signals are generated to infer current context information of the u-city by analyzing the individual sensor signals, to determine water quality management service that will be implemented based on the inferred context information, and to control water quality management resources based on the determined water quality management service; and a controlling step, wherein the water quality management resources are controlled based on the control signals. In particular, the control signal generation step comprises: a common device interface step, in which the individual sensor signals are received and converted into a common sensor signal which are irrelevant to the characteristics of the sensors; a context-aware computing step, in which context information is generated using the common sensor signal; a ubiquitous distributed core computing step, wherein a distributed computing platform is used, the water quality management service is determined based on the context information, and the control signals are generated based on the determined water quality service and transmitted to the water quality management resources; and a common application interface step, in which relevant information on the water quality management service is converted to comply with applications being executed on terminals having different operating environments, and the converted results are provided to the terminals. Through the present invention, the water quality of the u-city system can be effectively managed.
