A method of producing an asymmetrical microporous membrane comprising: molding the membrane from a solution of precursor membrane material such that an asymmetric membrane monolayer or an asymmetric membrane multilayer with a thick side and an open side is formed and a gradient porosity between them; increasing the surface porosity of the thick side of the membrane a) setting the dew point in an area near the surface of the thick side of the membrane-molded at a temperature ranging from 1,67ºC (35 ° F) to 29,44ºC (85ºF ); and / or b) determining the concentration of solids lacquer layer of the multilayer membrane disposed in the thick side at a concentration ranging from 8-15% prior to casting the membrane; so that the surface porosity of the dense side of the resulting asymmetrical membrane as percentage of fractional area is approximately 16.
