The invention relates to a method for removing the spectral interferences in atomic fluorescence measurements in argon plasma by quenching the molecular emissions of hydroxyl ion and nitrogen by introducing methane as collision/reaction gas. According to the invention, the method is based on the introduction of a limited amount of methane into a medium power plasma developed in argon atmosphere.
