The present invention describes a special illumination technique & modification of an ordinary light microscope to a high contrast light microscope by applying that. The ascribed technique illuminates the specimen at a large obtuse angle. These oblique rays when scattered through the specimen cause light amplitude & some amount of phase variation creating a high contrast, 3-D appearance of the specimen simulating the images produced by a conventional phase contrast microscope. High contrast, dark ground or bright field images or scanning view of the specimen are obtained by only changing the tilting angle of mirror. The described technique doesn"t require any phase plates & phase condenser, so the angular illumination technique described above is very much cost effective.
