METHOD FOR REGISTERING A MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK Node FOR A NETWORK SUB SYSTEM, APPLIANCE FOR USE IN REGISTERING A MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK Node, A METHOD FOR USE THROUGH AN APPLIANCE AS PART OF A METHOD FOR REGISTERING A MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION Node FOR A NETWORK SUB SYSTEM, APPLIANCE FOR USE IN A METHOD FOR REGISTERING A MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK FOR A NETWORK SUB SYSTEM, AND, OPERATIONAL PROGRAM. A method is provided for registering a mobile node (4), such as User Equipment (UE), of a telecommunications network, such as a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), to a network subsystem, such as an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). The network has at least one node (13-1, 13-2), such as a Billing and Policy Rules Function (PCRF), to maintain or have access to billing and policy rules for network users. The network also has at least one node (10), such as a Connection Point (10) GPRS Support Node (GGSN), for enforcing the charging rules and policy for traffic flow. A registration request message, such as the Section Trading Protocol (SIP) REGISTER message, is received from the mobile node (4) on a proxy node (12), such as a Proxy Call Section Function (P-CSCF) from the network. In response, a billing and policy rules candidate node (13-2) is selected for mobile node 15 (4), and is determined if the billing and policy rules candidate node (13-2) has already been selected through of a charging rule and policy enforcement node (10) to serve the mobile node (4). Subsequent steps of the registration procedure are performed depending on the determination.
