A synchronization method and device for implementing auction sale applications in a communication network using a server and at least one customer terminal. When receiving (305) a message containing a reference to a predetermined moment, the message is processed (310) and a command from the customer terminal is inhibited (600) until the predetermined moment. When receiving an offer, a value linked to the sale is updated (515) and a moment from which the value can further be considered is determined. A message including the value and the moment is generated and transmitted (520) to the customer terminal. The moment is preferably determined on the basis of the moment at which the message is created and transmitted, and on the basis of communication parameters.
