PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polymer capable of forming an amorphous anisotropic molten material having high extensibility and suitable for the production of various articles including films, fibers and blow-molded articles, obtain a polymer produce by the method and provide a molded article of the polymer such as a multilayer laminate and a bicomponent fiber.;SOLUTION: The objective polymer forming an amorbphous anisotropic molten material having high extensibility contains a repeating unit composed essentially of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid and an aromatic diacid wherein at least a part of the unit contains 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and an aromatic diol and/or hydroxylamine component and at leas a part of the diol component is derived from 4,4'-biphenol. The polymer is produced by including the repeating unit derived from resorcinol into the polymer in a manner to maintain a specific amount of the repeating unit in the polymer. The polymer is especially suitable for the production of molded articles such as a multilayer laminated article and a bicomponent fiber.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
