PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for calculating a bias of an HDD, capable of calculating biases across all zones of a disk easily and quickly.;SOLUTION: The method for calculating a bias of the HDD includes a step of measuring biases across all zones of the disk, a step of extracting a nonlinear bias component nonlinearly changed across all zones of the disk based on the measured biases, a step of measuring biases at the two reference points on the disk based on changes of the operation conditions of the HDD, a step of estimating a linear bias component linearly changed across all zones of the disk based on the biases measured at the two reference points, and a step of calculating a bias at one point of the disk due to changes of the operation conditions of the HDD, based on the estimated linear bias component and the extracted linear bias component.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
