PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the real-time analysis of on/off traffic characteristics from a measured value, without the need of a detailed data analysis that uses a high function measuring instrument to store the measured value for a prescribed period.;SOLUTION: First, the packet length and the packet transfer time interval of communication traffic are measured, and a data transfer rate variation index is calculated on the basis of a relative entropy value between the measured packet transfer transmission time interval and a packet transfer time interval when transferred at a fixed transfer rate. Then, the calculated data transfer rate variation index is used to at least approximately calculate a prescribed traffic characteristic value.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
