PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing by a relatively simple method a liquid crystal-dispersed type water-soluble polymer solution wherein fine regions containing a liquid-crystalline birefringent material are dispersed in the water-soluble polymer solution in small particle diameters.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the liquid crystal-dispersed type water-soluble polymer solution wherein fine regions formed from a liquid-crystalline birefringent material are dispersed in the water-soluble polymer solution in a prescribed concentration is characterized by comprising (1) process for preparing a mixture solution of the liquid-crystalline birefringent material with the water-soluble polymer solution so that the concentration of the liquid-crystalline birefringent material is higher than the above-mentioned prescribed concentration, (2) a process for subjecting the above-mentioned mixture solution to a high shear stirring so that the liquid-crystalline birefringent material is dispersed in fine regions having maximum particle diameters of ≥6 μm, (3) a process for mixing and diluting the fine region-dispersed water-soluble polymer solution with the water-soluble polymer solution so that the fine regions become the above-mentioned described concentration, and (4) a process for uniformly stirring and dispersing the fine regions in the diluted water-soluble polymer solution.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
