PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a local correspondence extraction device which comprehensively extracts representative local correspondences between arbitrary character strings which are not preliminarily indexed.SOLUTION: The local correspondence extraction device includes a local correspondence extraction section which extracts local correspondences being similar character strings between two arbitrary documents. When a cell of a second matrix corresponding to a transition source cell is indicative of belonging to one local correspondence and a maximum score calculated by a first matrix generation section is larger than a prescribed value, it is stored that two characters corresponding to cells as calculation objects are end points of the local correspondence if a calculated score is larger than a maximum score of cells belonging to the same local correspondence.
