Method for remote secured authentication of patient personal data by health professional, involves transmitting identifier and received password to server, and comparing received password with expected single usage password
The method involves inserting a smart card (50) into an independent portable device i.e. portable reader (40), adapted to receive the card for communication. A single usage password is algorithmically generated according to a secret key (42). The password is applied to an output interface of the device. An identifier and the password are introduced by a user via an input interface (41) on a client station that is connected to a server. The identifier and the received password are transmitted to the server. The received password is compared with an expected single usage password. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for initialization of a smart card (2) an independent portable device comprising a card reader for reading data.
