Aircraft towing vehicle for use at airport, has gripping platform rotating with frame and gripping front axle, damping and actuation unit connected with gripping platform and frame, and wheel modules connected with frame
The vehicle (1) has wheel modules (3) connected with a frame (5), where each wheel module includes an actuator to induce a vertical movement of the wheel module with respect to the frame. A gripping platform (2) is utilized for gripping a front axle (4), and rotates with the frame. A damping and actuation unit is connected with the gripping platform and the frame. A side gate is placed opposite to force exerted on a wheel of the front axle by the gripping platform. The gripping platform is equipped with a front axle wheel locking mechanism. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for gripping a front axle (2) a method for towing an aircraft.
