Method for tracking geostationary satellite by directional antenna mounted on moving body e.g. airplane, along known trajectory, involves correcting orientation of directional antenna from predicted attitude of moving body
Method for tracking geostationary satellite by directional antenna mounted on moving body e.g. airplane, along known trajectory, involves correcting orientation of directional antenna from predicted attitude of moving body
The method involves controlling orientation of a directional antenna (4), and establishing an attitude model of a moving body along a trajectory of the moving body. Attitude of the moving body is predicted from the attitude model at each instant throughout trajectory time of the moving body. The orientation of the antenna is corrected from the predicted attitude of the moving body. Geocentric co-ordinates of the moving body are predicted along the trajectory of the moving body. The attitude of the moving body is estimated from the predicted geocentric co-ordinates. An independent claim is also included for a device for tracking a geostationary satellite by an antenna mounted on a moving body along a known trajectory.
