The device (2) has an optical detecting unit (3) electrically coupled with a control unit (7) i.e. programmable control device. The detecting unit determines transparency of a window of a vehicle (1) and/or portions of the window. Optical information (8) and/or acoustic information (9) are/is output to a driver of the vehicle based on a predetermined threshold value of the determined transparency of the window. Operations of the optical detecting unit and the control unit are automatically activated with activation of an ignition of the vehicle.
