The device (1) has a microcomputer (11) for stopping and starting a combustion engine (3) when predetermined autostop and autostart conditions are satisfied, where the autostart condition comprises two vehicle state and driving state conditions. A switch (9) outputs an invalidation command for invalidation of one of the conditions when a driver of a car enters the invalidation command. The microcomputer stops the combustion engine when the invalidation command is output by the switch. A connection circuit (15) forms a connection between the microcomputer and an engine control part (5).
