The receiver (20) has an optical signal processing unit (210) comprising a laser module and an diffractive optical element, where the unit is equipped such that optically spatial integrated correlation of reception signals takes place with a reference signal form or a reference code in a parallel or synchronous manner. The processing unit comprises two optical lens arrangements, an optical filtering apparatus and a photodetector module. The photodetector module comprises active pixel-sensors in complementary metal oxide semiconductor technology or in charge coupled device technology. An independent claim is also included for a radio sensor network i.e. ultra wide band radio sensor network, for detection and transmission of sensor data, comprising a radio receiver.
