The method involves determining coating thickness (h) of a coating (3) based on contact length (2a). The coating thickness is resulted from a fixed ratio of the coating thickness to half contact length, where the ratio of the coating thickness to half contact length lies above 0.5. Contact areas are extended between rolling contact partners (2) of a bearing arrangement (1) by the contact length, where rigidity of the coating lies below rigidity of the rolling contact partners, and hardness of the coating lies at a range of hardness of the rolling contact partners. An independent claim is also included for a bearing arrangement comprising contact regions.
