Method for assisting driver of vehicle during transverse control of vehicle, involves determining relevance distances between vehicle and objects, and decreasing relevance of objects for transverse control with relevance distances
The method involves providing a relevance of objects (O1-O3) for transverse control of a vehicle (1). Relevance distances (dy1 to dy3) between the vehicle and the objects are determined. The relevance distances are formed from measured portions (dy-mess1 to dy-mess3) and three relevant portions (drel1 to drel3) and/or from a projected distance and a fourth relevant proportion. Size of the relevant portions is increased with larger time periods (t1 to t3) and decreased with smaller time periods. The relevance of the objects for the transverse control is decreased with the relevance distances.
