Dental care chewing gum comprises silver. An independent claim is also included for preparing the dental care chewing gum, comprising: mixing the powdery and liquid ingredients, preferably in a cone mixer; kneading the mixture to homogeneity, preferably at a final temperature of 45[deg] C; subjecting the mixture to extrusion; and packing. ACTIVITY : Antibacterial. The antibacterial activity of the silver containing dental care chewing gum was tested based on the relative number of bacteria developing in the oral cavity after the initial administration, normal state and after the lunch. The result showed that the silver containing chewing gum consumed group exhibited a bacterial count of 98, where as the placebo group (chewing gum without silver) exhibited a count of 104. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
