The domestic appliance (1) has a pump (10) including a coil element (46) that is connected with a controller (20). Liquid is passed into a treatment area (6), and the controller actuates the coil element for conveying the liquid through a pumping room (35) by a drive current. The controller is actuated in a handling operation of the coil element by heating current that is overlain by the drive current. The controller produces drive and heat current in two frequency ranges, where the frequency ranges are different from each other.
